Data from the World Health Organization estimates that, each year, around 600 million people worldwide become ill from consuming contaminated food, resulting in 420,000 deaths. It is no wonder that the food industry has increased its investments in production, preparation and scale, thus ensuring the absence of any contaminants.
In Santa Catarina, the company DATEC, part of the Soma Solution Group, has stood out in the manufacture of conveyor belts equipped with contaminant detectors.
"We manufacture these products based on orders from the industry, which are our customers. It is worth mentioning that DATEC has the capacity to customize production to meet the specific needs of each order", highlights Gustavo Müller Martins, CEO of the Solution Group.
Metal detectors can identify the presence of metallic materials. X-ray technology, considered the most advanced technique for food inspection, can identify glass, stones, ceramics, dense plastics and other residues from the industrial process. Detailed identification is very fast, allowing for the immediate removal of compromised products from the production line, automatically.
"When we talk about contaminant detectors, including X-rays, we are referring to something much more comprehensive: a tool that works to ensure people's food safety, something that is of interest to brands that value consumers, thinking about health and well-being. And always adding value to the product's brand in the market," highlights Martins.
With distribution throughout the country and owning its own products, such as knife sharpeners for meatpacking plants and labelers, DATEC is looking to new horizons and in 2024, it should begin the process of exporting its solutions in machines and special devices.
"With this, we seek to increase DATEC's visibility and participate in international fairs and events," says the CEO.
In addition, by advancing this project, DATEC will contribute to increasing the still modest percentage of Brazilian companies that export. The study "Profile of Brazilian Exporting Firms", published by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), reveals that less than 1% (0.88%) of the companies active in the country sell their products abroad.
"This is our intention: to seek markets outside Brazil, represent the country and boost the equipment sector. Currently, Brazil purchases a lot of equipment from abroad, and the idea is to highlight what we have here", says the CEO.
