With an investment of R$5 million, Datec advances in the international market

Industrial knife sharpening machines take Datec to Mexico and the United States

Internationalization is no longer just a goal; it has become a strategic and necessary move for innovative companies. This is exactly the case of Datec, which stands out by offering cutting-edge solutions in industrial knife sharpening machines, coding, product inspection and industrial automation. Now, the brand — which is part of the Soma Solution Group — is advancing on its global trajectory, expanding its borders and consolidating its presence in strategic markets such as Mexico and the United States.

The initiative foresees an investment of over R$5 million over the next two years, focusing on several strategic fronts. The resources will be allocated to marketing actions, participation in fairs and events, expansion of the physical structure, hiring of professionals, in addition to the acquisition of machines, equipment and software.

“This is the initial process of a medium-term plan, which aims to achieve 30% of revenue coming from the international market within a period of five years”, explains Gilberto Inácio Dick, Datec’s chief operating officer.

International strategy

The internationalization plan began with a thorough analysis of markets and opportunities identified at global trade shows. During these events, executives identified not only gaps in the market, but also Datec's potential as a global supplier.

The strategy is well defined: products manufactured in Brazil will be represented locally in the countries where it operates. In the case of Mexico, the choice was strategic, given that the Soma Solution Group already operates in the country through the company Solumark.

In the United States, Datec will initially be present at the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE), the largest global trade show dedicated to the poultry, meat and animal feed sector, which will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, from January 28 to 30, 2025. Another event that has already been confirmed is Expo Carnes y Lácteos, which will be held from March 4 to 6 in Monterrey, Mexico.

“We have high expectations, as these will be our first international events. We will initially present ourselves as suppliers for the meatpacking sector, but we will also seek partnerships and customers to expand our business”, highlights Gilberto.

International expansion begins with solid foundations in Brazil and abroad

The first phase of internationalization focuses on the export of industrial knife sharpening machines, but it already includes expansion to other products in the company's portfolio. “It is a long and complex process, which involves creating global communication for the brand, studying legislation and target markets, and developing local partnerships for distribution, support and after-sales”, explains the executive.

In Brazil, the company is also aiming high. The brand's management is already organizing the construction of Datec's new headquarters in Chapecó, Santa Catarina. Investments of around R$4 million are planned for the company. The construction should last two years and the move to the new address is scheduled for 2026. The space will have one thousand square meters. “In addition, investments will be needed in manufacturing equipment and hiring professionals to meet the demands of current and new markets”, adds the director.
